Osteopathy is a client-centred discipline that is based on understanding the relationship between structure and function in order to enhance the body’s inherent ability to heal. It relies on skilled manual therapeutic techniques to assess and treat the client, guiding the natural self-healing properties of the human body.

Osteopathy is recognized as a distinct manual therapy that differs from other forms of treatment and is recommended for individuals of all ages. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners work closely with patients to help improve their ability to move as they heal from illness, disease, injury, or long periods of inactivity. They may work in collaboration with medical doctors and other healthcare professionals to assure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

A range of gentle hands-on techniques are used, including, but not limited to: fascial and soft tissue mobilization, muscle energy, superficial and deep tactile pressure, mobilization of joints, cranial-sacral therapy and integrative movements for self-care and rehabilitation
